Liam Solomon

Barcelona are now 6/4 to be banned from the Champions League next season as UEFA begin their investigation into £7.5 million worth of payments from the club to a former vice-chair of the Spanish referee’s committee and his company.

The Spanish giants deny any wrongdoing but have acknowledged the payments made to Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira and his firm between 2001 and 2018.

According to the latest odds sourced by Casinos En Ligne resident compiler Alan Alger, the Catalans are 6/4 to be banned from next season’s Champions League.

UEFA Sanctions On Barcelona Odds

  • Banned from playing in 2023/24 Champions League – 6/4
  • Stripped of Champions League titles – 5/1
  • 10+ million Euros fine – 3/1

Barcelona face 40% likelihood to be banned from Champions League

According to the implied probability from Casinos En Ligne’s latest exclusive odds, Barcelona face a 40% chance of being banned from next season’s competition.

Xavi’s side exited the Champions League in the group stage earlier this season and were later dumped out of the Europa League by Manchester United.

Commentary

Liam Solomon, PR manager for Casinos En Ligne, commented on the odds; “The financial turmoil Barcelona FC already face is eye-watering. To slap a Champions League ban on top of that could be devastating for the club in terms of balancing the books, but also attracting top talent to the club in the summer. However, with UEFA’s track record of strict sanctions, you could absolutely see Barcelona without any European football next season – which is reflected in the odds market.”
