Social casino mobile game Coin Master from Moon Active has been among the highest-grossing gaming apps for years. Thanks to an army of players and fans who spend millions of dollars on in-app purchases and microtransactions each month, the game hit more than $3bn in lifetime revenue and over 300 million downloads, and these numbers continue growing.
According to data presented by Casinos En Ligne, as the top-grossing casino game worldwide, Coin Master raked in nearly $72 million in monthly revenue, more than the next three top-grossing casino games combined.
More than 3.3 million Downloads in a Month
The majority of Coin Master’s downloads and revenue comes from the United States, as the leading market, followed by Brazil, India, the United Kingdom, and France. One of the key factors that led to impressive revenue and user figures is the game’s approach to user acquisition, including many high-profile US celebrities advertising the game.
Today, it`s the fifth top-grossing mobile game globally across the App Store and Google Play, behind PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, Genshin Impact, and Roblox. In the casino games category, no other title stands even close to Coin Master.
The Statista and AppMagic data show that Moon Active`s mobile game has grossed three times more monthly revenue than any other casino gaming app. Bingo Blitz ranked second with $21.9 million in revenue in November. Ocean Fortune hit $20.6 million in monthly revenue as the third top-grossing casino game globally. Jackpot Party Casino Slots and Slotomania followed with $18.5 million and $17.3 million, respectively.
Besides leading the top-grossing chart, Coin Master was also the most downloaded gaming app in the casino category. Statistics show the game was downloaded over 3.3 million times in November alone. Teen Patti Go ranked second with over 2.2 million downloads that month, and Rummy Circle followed with 2 million respectively.
85% of Lifetime Revenue Made in the Last Three Years
Coin Master was first released in 2015, but it took a few years to reach worldwide popularity and top-grossing charts. In fact, statistics show that 85% of its lifetime revenue was made in the last three years.
After a stellar year of growth propelled by the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, the game grossed around $870 million in 2020 alone, up 120% from 2019, when it accumulated $396 million. Its best month was January 2021, when it racked up $89.1 million. The annual revenue hit over $966 million that year. Although revenue growth slowed down in 2022, the game still hit an impressive $750 million in player spending in eleven months of the year, or 55% more than in its first five years combined.
