Over the past few years, the Japanese gaming giant Sony brought quite a few major PlayStation titles to PC, allowing gamers to experience the adventures of iconic PlayStation Studios characters without buying a PS console. So far, the company has grossed hundreds of millions of dollars from selling first-party titles for PC, and this revenue stream is expected to see impressive growth in 2023.

According to data presented by CasinosEnLigne.com, Sony is set to generate $450 million in revenue from sales of its first-party titles for PC this year, or $200 million more than in 2022.

Releasing PS Games on PC Years After Console Version Acceptable to Fans; Annual Revenue Skyrocketed by 1185% in Three Years

Although Helldivers: Dive Harder Edition was the first game Sony released on PC in 2015, it wouldn’t be until the arrival of Horizon Zero Dawn five years later that the initiative was given much more momentum.

Unlike Microsoft, Sony has remained committed to timed exclusivity for its first-party titles, meaning games like God of War, Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Marvel’s Spider-Man were all released on PC a few years after they debuted on PlayStation consoles. However, that hasn’t stopped revenue from selling first-party titles for PC surging over the past three years.

According to Statista and Sony data, in the fiscal year 2020, ending March 2021, Sony generated $35 million in revenue through sales of its first-party titles for PC. A year later, this figure jumped to $80 million and continued growing.

Statistics show that in FY2022, ending March 2023, Sony grossed $250 million from selling its first-party titles for PC, including major PlayStation titles like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered, and the Uncharted series. However, FY2023 is set to witness the biggest year-over-year growth, with revenue surging to $450 million and showing a massive 1,185% increase in just three years.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the Next Sony Exclusive Coming to PC

Although Sony continues releasing its big PlayStation exclusives on PC long after their console debuts, players and gamers worldwide are still very excited about the new PS titles making their way to PC.

The PlayStation 5 has amazing exclusives, including God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, Demon’s Souls, Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The last title is, in fact, the next Sony title coming to PC on July 26. The game, which debuted in 2021, is also the first Ratchet & Clank game to be released on PC.
