After taking a step back last year, Twitch has started off 2023 with a bang, growing in several key metrics, including active channels, average viewers, and total games streamed.
The data experts at Casinos En Ligne have examined Twitch user data from the past month to come up with some key insights on where the online streaming platform is headed in 2023.
The number of active channels on Twitch grew for the second consecutive month, jumping from 4.73 million in December to 5.07 million in January 2023, a new all-time high.
The online streaming platform also set a new record with 42,264 total games streamed this month, shattering the record set in the previous month (December 2022).

Number of Active Channels Jumps By 7 Percent To Record 5.07M
Twitch set a new record for active channels on the streaming platform with 5.07 million in January, breaking the previous mark set in August 2022.
The 7 percent increase is also the largest jump since last August, when the streaming platform saw its number of active channels jump by 33 percent to a then-record of 5.02 million.
As a result, the number of concurrently active channels also rose in the first month of 2023.
In addition to the increase in active channels, the average number of concurrently active channels grew by 13 percent to 97,545 in January 2023.
Twitch Sets Record With 42,264 Games Streamed in January 2023
More games are being streamed on Twitch than ever before, according to a recent report by Casinos En Ligne.
Twitch gamers streamed 42,264 games in January 2023, the most ever recorded on the online streaming platform.
The number represents a 5 percent increase from the previous record (40,376) set in December 2022.
Overall, the number of games streamed has risen by 22 percent year-over-year and 10.3 percent over the past two months alone.
Average Viewers Increases to 2.55M, Highest Since August 2022
Twitch watched its average viewers increase to 2.55M users, the most in six months.
In January, the average number of Twitch viewers rose by 12 percent to 2.55 million, the highest mark since August 2022.
It also marks the first time in five months that the online streaming platform has exhibited growth in the category.
The average number of Twitch viewers had stagnated over the last five months, declining between 0 and 4 percent in each month during that span.
